Simplicity strengthens your photo by focusing on the emphasis and only on the emphasis. It takes all the distracting background away so your eyes know exactly where to look. Simplicity is not boring, it just simplifies the picture to the one thing you want to be the emphasis.
I think simplicity is very effective. It makes the picture more dramatic, and has more emotion because there is nothing else in the picture fighting for attention and your eyes know exactly where to look, and what to feel.

I will always adore this picture. I just love the nostalgic feel that is given in the shot of you. Also, the sleeve gives it an eighties-esque type of feel, making me feel like I'm looking into the past. Overall, love it!
